It started with the music of the Ainur.

But Melkor had other ideas.

Until finally, Ilúvatar stood up and raised both hands.

With one deep, high, and piercing chord, all Music stopped.

Then, Iluvatar spoke:

Mighty are the Ainur.

And mightiest among them is Melkor.

But you and Melkor know that I am Iluvatar.

I’ll show you what you have sung so far

So you see what you have done.

And you, Melkor,

You shall see that

no song theme can exist if its uttermost source isn’t in me.

and no one can change the music without in my despite.

And if anyone tries,

they’ll find my instrument the most unimaginable wonderful.

The Ainur were afraid.

Although, they didn’t completely comprehend what they had heard.

Melkor was filled with shame.

And this shame resulted in a secret anger.

And Ilúvatar taught the Ainur about the World.
